Troubles & Triumphs

Saturday, May 19th @3:00pm
100 E Windsor Ave
Alexandria, VA 22301

Cancer is a trouble that has touched almost everyone’s life, in some way, shape or form.  This year, Sopranessence brings in spring with a fundraising concert in support of the organization “We Will Survive Cancer” (WWSC). WWSC is a non-profit organization in Alexandria, VA that assists families affected by cancer whose needs are not met by others. That’s definitely a triumph! This concert will feature unique arrangements of music that represents life’s ups and downs and how we can overcome them. 15% of ticket sales will go in support of WWSC. Find more information on WWSC here.

Virtues & Vices

Sunday, March 4, 2018 @5:30 PM
Atlas Performing Arts Center
1333 H Street, NE
Washington, DC 20002

As Morgan Freeman so aptly put it, “There are seven deadly sins, Captain. Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Pride, Lust and Envy. Seven.” Kind of morbid, huh? But what if those vices had to stand up to the virtues of Temperance, Patience, Kindness, Purity, Charity, Diligence and Humility? It gives us hope that there is still good in the world, right? Sopranessence opens it’s new season by exploring the music that expresses our everyday struggles between good and evil, darkness and light. Join us on March 4th as we look at how various composers shine the light on virtues and vices and tell us who wins!
